3 bedroom Villa
Sleeps up to 6
• Traditional old farmhouse
• Fantastic peaceful location
• Amazing views to the coast
• Not suitable for young children
If you’re an old romantic, looking for a simple country house where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of the Algarve, we offer you villa Joanna. Standing proudly in extensive grounds shaded by verdant woodland, set on a hidden hilltop away from the hustle and bustle, a place you can luxuriate in peace and quiet and drink in the amazing views of the countryside and to the sea. From the outskirts of Albufeira to the east, all the way past Armacao da Pera, to the Monchique hills in the west, fringed by the blus Atlantic Ocean.
The house is very spacious, no pokey box rooms, full of quirky features and beautiful antique furniture that will delight you (as long as you’ve read the paragraph above) but really only suitable for adults and older children, due to features that make it unsuitable for smaller children. There’s lots to explore inside and even more outside with extensive grounds to explore, a large pool for swimming or to laze in the cooling water and those views to linger over. You’ll need a car for shopping in nearby Guia or Albufeira, for visits to restaurants and to explore the stunning coastline between Albufeira and Pera where you’ll find some beautiful sandy coves backed by yellow sandstone cliffs, weathered by the elements into amazing rock stacks and caves.
The villa has air conditioning in all the bedroom and we also provide fans if you'd prefer to stay old school, a bit of careful management to keep the sun out and let the breeze in will keep the house cooler during the afternoon.
From the expansive parking area and car port, enter into a large farmhouse kitchen with a range cooker, essential dishwasher and a lovely old table complete with stools for breakfast dining. A large hatch opens to the dining room furnished in traditional Algarve farmhouse chic but it’s not a room you’ll use much. Instead you’ll be drawn to the shaded outdoor dining terrace where you’ll take time over leisurely lunches and dinners from the barbecue.
Beside the dining room is the cavernous lounge with comfortable seating around the fireplace and a large expanse of glass opening to the partially shaded terrace and down to the pool. Also on the ground floor is...
a guest toilet; double bedroom with en suite shower room, a twin bedroom with a lovely new en suite shower room and doors to the front terrace giving access to the pool and gardens.
An open tread staircase from the living room leads to the gallery with comfy seating where you can enjoy wonderful views to the coast, a flying walkway extends across to a second gallery set up as a stylish office space where you could begin that novel or at least jot down a shopping list. It has high ceilings finished traditionally with bamboo and a skylight to flood the space with light.
At this level you can access the master bedroom, which is huge and has large sliding glass doors opening to the upper terrace where the views are even better because of the elevation, a sun shade has just been added to make the space useable all day. The bedroom has a queen-size bed, ancient wood burner, spacious period bathroom with both a shower stall and a bath and a second staircase that brings you down to the kitchen.
At ground level there’s more sunny, brick-paved terrace with a number of loungers and steps down to the large swimming pool, which can be heated in the cooler months of spring and autumn to extend the season.
If this sounds like your perfect holiday spot then we’d be pleased to welcome you here.
