Set in the heart of Pollenca Old town the 365 Calvari steps one for every day of the year stretch up the hillside to the pretty chapel waiting above.

Once there you will be rewarded with amazing views over the roof tops and out to sea. Make sure you grab a quick coffee or water at the Cafe De Calvari before embarking on the climb as once started there are no other refreshment points until you reach the top

The journey to Formentor Peninsular is  almost as spectacular as the views of Menorca from the cafe bar at the lighthouse.

A challenging drive up through En Fumet mountain punctuated with points en-route to take some pictures of the dramatic scenery below

Not for the faint hearted or those who find heights a challenge

Evening

Old Town of Pollenca

At night transforms into a warm mixture of local music and evocative smells as restaurants and musicians alike prepare for the evenings entertainment. The main square and the avenues off it come to life with welcoming restaurant owners and abundant outdoor eating ares.

Eat at Michelin listed restaurants such as Clivia or enjoy a wonderful Italian at Restaurante II Giardo

Sample some of the local specialities ouch as Frito Mallorquin a dish of potatoes, red pepper, artichokes, peas, fennel tops, olive oil, chilli, garlic, sometimes black pudding, the main ingredient is offal normally just liver but often kidneys too.

Evening

Puerto de Pollenca

The port with its long flat promenade is perfect for that relaxing evening stroll, aim for the pine walk and its excellent restaurants and enjoy eating while the sea gently laps the shoreline.

There are more than enough bars and restaurants to keep you occupied in the port Italian, Chinese, French just to name a few but if you yearn for a little late night entertainment why not take a taxi to Alcudia and its enthusiastic nightlife.

WHAT WE THINK

The North of Mallorca is one of  the most popular destinations for holidaymakers from the UK and deservedly so, it’s very scenic, the people friendly and welcoming, the food is good and it’s famous for its wonderful beaches, particularly in the areas where we have selected our villas.

EAT AND DRINK

Restaurants Mallorca cater for all tastes, families are made very welcome and you’ll notice that prices are reasonable at most restaurants. Food is very important however you will find that most restaurants do not start evening service until after 7pm.

Specialities of the region include P amb oli – this is simply bread, garlic, olive oil and tomatoes.
Sobrasada – This is a red pork sausage seasoned with herbs.
Arroz Brut – A rice dish (not unlike soup) with either meat or fish in it.
Paella – A mix of rice, meat, fish, shellfish and vegetables.

Enssaïmada, a sweet spiral cake dusted with powdered sugar

THE BEST BEACHES

With miles of wonderful coastline and so many fantastic sandy beaches, it’s a tough call actually selecting a list but here goes…

Alcudia Beach

Very popular and commercial  beach with lots of activities on or near by.

Popular with the British holiday maker as plenty of cafes offering home from home cooked food. Great English breakfasts and even a McDonalds.

Puerto de Pollenca Beach

Fun and very family friendly with plenty of shops bars and restaurants close by

Perfect beach to take all the family with plenty of water sports for the active and for those looking to relax a number of beach bars to enjoy a glass or two of sangria in

Cala San Vicente

With a blue flag for cleanliness the three beaches here connected by rocky outcrops have cystal blue waters ideal for snorkelling

Access down steep steps from main road makes this beach a little less popular than others.
