Carvoeiro Villa Holidays 

Carvoeiro is one of the most popular destinations for villa with pool holidays and one of the sparkling jewels along the Algarve coast. Blessed with more than its fair share of superb beaches and all have a stunning backdrop of dramatic cliffs, with the most beautiful golden sand and solitary stone stacks carved by the sea. Carvoeiro's small town centre has a great atmosphere and all the facilities you could need while on holiday, with a wide range of shops, a few market stalls by the fine sandy beach, cafes that spill onto the pavement and a wide range of family friendly restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. However, the small town charm belies the wealth of amenities and facilities in the area which makes Carvoeiro a wonderful base for a memorable family holiday.

Carvoeiro - Beaches

Carvoeiro is a fabulous location to enjoy a family beach holiday. The town beach is right beside the town centre and has all the amenities you could need close by. To the west is the beach most often missed by tourists, Paraiso beach, consequently it's often one of the least busy. Walk up the hill out of Carvoeiro towards Monte Carvoeiro until you reach the "Mar d'Fora" restaurant, take the staircase down to the golden sand

Further west is Ferragudo beach, another fine expanse of golden sand facing Portimao across the river Arade. Due to its more sheltered location, it has the best water sport facilities including wind surfing and water skiing and an amazing inflatable waterpark for the children.

Travelling east along the coast from Carvoeiro centre, the Algor Seco is a popular spot for snorkelling and diving with dramatic cliffs plunging into the sea.

Almanzor beach is in front of the Almanzor hotel with access through the hotel or a narrow footpath that runs down the side of the hotel. A small yet very attractive beach with a cave open to the sea. Facilities are available in the hotel including tennis courts.

The next beach along the Carvoeiro coast is Centiannes, a wonderful stretch of golden sand backed by high cliffs. There's also an excellent bar restaurant beside the sands. Smuggler's beach, also known as Alfanzina, is reached by steps that wind down from the Clube Atlantico estate. The steps pass through a tunnel cut into the rock and onto the magnificent beach below. There are no facilities here so you'll need to take a picnic but it's well worth it.

Benagil is the next stop, the minor coastal road drops steeply into the valley and passes right beside the beach. Still used to land the day's catch, you'll see brightly painted boats up on the sand. It also means fresh fish is available at the beach bar and restaurants close by.

Marinha beach is the last of Carvoeiro's beaches heading east, there's a large car park and broad steps down to the sand, stunning cliffs to the rear, rocky columns and a handy beachside restaurant and bar make this a firm favourite with guests.

Carvoeiro - Sport & Leisure Activities

Golf The 9 hole golf course at Vale do Milho is handily located close to Carvoeiro's town centre. There's a fine club house with bar restaurant that's popular at lunchtimes. The Sesmarias Country Club is a fine recent addition to the Carvoeiro area with two superb golf courses - Gramacho and Pinto - and there's an attractive club house with restaurant and bar.

Tennis There are extensive tennis facilities in the Carvoeiro area with coaching available at Rocha Brava and the Carvoeiro Club Tennis Centre.

Water Sports Carvoeiro's Farragudo beach has a range of watersports, jet skis, windsurfing and pedaloes for hire.

Boat trips There are several boat trips available in the Carvoeiro area, exploring the fantastic coastline and stopping at exotic beaches. Perhaps the most memorable day out and under sail is aboard Santa Bernada - a replica caravelle, which departs from the old sardine pier in Portimao on weekdays.

Waterslide Parks A hit with all the family on holiday in Carvoeiro. There are two parks nearby, Aqualand at Alcantarilha (the Big One) or Slide and Splash at Lagoa.
